sysmaster systabauth space issue
Posted in 2011
User encountered error 312 (Cannot update system catalog systabauth) with error 131 (no free disk space) while adding indexes, despite rootspace having plenty of free space. Art Kagel explained that systabauth exists in every database's catalog (not just sysmaster), so the error likely meant that specific database's catalog dataspace ran out of space, or systabauth had too many extents. No explicit resolution provided.

IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 9.40.HC5 - yes I know its not supported
HP-UX wdcuast5 B.11.11 U
while adding indexes to table ran out of space in dataspace - straight forward
enough to fix.
However I dont understand why I see the following error
Near character position 44
312: Cannot update system catalog (systabauth).
131: ISAM error: no free disk space
Error in line 1Near character position 30
I dont understand why I see this message when the systabauth is in the
sysmaster dataabse which is in the rootspace which has plenty of room.
Chunk Pathname Size Used Free
/opt/informix/chunks/response/root_response 32000 13196 18804
/opt/informix/chunks/response/root_response_temp 50000 6740 43260
does anyone have an answer please
Actually, systabauth is a database catalog table and one exists in every
database, so it just maybe the the database catalog for this database is in
the dataspace that ran out of free pages. It is also possible that the
systabauth table in this database has too many extents.

thanks for that if I do
dbschema -d test0111 -t systabauth i cant see the tableNo table or view systabauth.
If I do dbaccess - table info systabauth
I can see the table , why is this
Because dbschema is trained not to report on the structure of the system catalog. Maybe you could use Art's MySchema instead?
And because DB-Access isn't quite as unhelpful as DB-Schema.

Because dbschema will not print out schema for system catalog tables. You
will get the same result for dbschema -d test0111 -t systables
My myschema utility will print out systabauth and other catalog tables if
you explicitely as for them.

And as anyone who can read Base-64 text can see, what I said was a response
to Karl's email asking:
