KAIO:out of OS resources error in IDS11.7
Posted in 2013
User reported "KAIO: out of OS resources, errno = 11" errors in IDS 11.70FC5 on AIX 6.1 and asked if OS parameter aio_maxreqs and environment variable IFMX_AIXKAIO_NUM_REQ still need configuration, and whether server restart is required. Responder confirmed these settings are necessary if errors occur, recommended checking machine notes in Server Docs folder, and confirmed server restart is needed for new variables to take effect.

environment AIX 6.1 IDS 11.70FC5 these days there are several KAIO: out of OS resources, errno = 11 error message showed in the online.log. Searching on the google they suggested me to add the OS parameter aio_maxreqs and set the environment variable IFMX_AIXKAIO_NUM_REQ? Question In the IDS11.70FC5, do I still need to set those variable? After resetting the OS parameter and environment variable , do I need to restart the server? thanks in advance.
Hi If you are getting the errors then it is almost certainly required ! Check the machine notes in the Server Docs folder ($INFORMIXDIR/release/en_us/0333/*machine*txt) to see what the suggested settings are. Yes, you will have to restart in order to get the server processes to use the new variable. hi I read the notes but I didn't get the errno 22 and I am not going to disable KAIO. So I really don't know what the suggested settings are in my case. thanks >Hi >If you are getting the errors then it is almost certainly required ! >Check the machine notes in the Server Docs folder >($INFORMIXDIR/release/en_us/0333/*machine*txt) to see what the suggested >settings are. >Yes, you will have to restart in order to get the server processes to use >the new variable. >Keith >On 3 April 2013 04:38, FAN YANG <fania0324@yahoo.com.tw> wrote: > environment > AIX 6.1 > IDS 11.70FC5 > these days there are several KAIO: out of OS resources, errno = 11 error > message showed in the online.log. Hi , take a look in Google , search for "KAIO EAGAIN" and you find some articles related to this topic, and OS kernel tuning.
