The 7.3 release will contain the archecker utility as an undocumented,
unsupported tool. It verifies the chains of pages, ensuring that
all are present and readable. It can be run while the engine is
online with no ill effects (except machine resource usage.)
7.3 will also provide a restartable restore for OnBar (though not for
ontape) which can (and *should*) be turned on by the DBA.
New additions to the onstat -d command will allow you to watch the
changing status of the database during a restore, so you can see
progress being made.
And the archive program has been improved, making it simpler, faster,
and more robust. These changes are all "under the hood", but are
described across several pages of class notes in the "supporting"
class.
