Kevin, We must grab the urgency of now. Think outside the big blue box. Start a Wiki, using MediaWiki, on your _own_ website. MediaWiki is not the perfect solution but it certainly is the easiest when it comes to setting up cheap-n-easy documentation, articles, etc. *<8o) GO GO GO! -- Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Why re-invent the wheel? IIUG and InformixZone already exist and provide what is needed. I think all they would need is permission from IBM to host the content, or they could post it and wait for a DCMA take down notice that I'm sure will never come... -G > Date: Mon, 13 Oct 2008 20:45:36 -0700 > From: indeep@indeep.com > Subject: Re: Smoke and mirrors... > To: informix-list@iiug.org > > Kevin, > > We must grab the urgency of now. It's not reinventing the wheel. It's spreading the base of links and resources and articles out wider and wider. OTC has recently added his blog to the mix, I think it's a good idea for as many as the rest of you to do the same. I had a blog back in the '90's before they were called blogs, I may do the same again. Fernando and Eric's sites are going to become more important over time as they add more and more to them. This is not taking away anything from the great resources already out there, this is adding to it. If you understand search engines this is important in how you increase presence on the web. Since we don't have any other means of marketing, we all need to increase the Informix universe on our own. IBM is certainly not interested in making that happen. -- Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.
