Informix Software Mirroring

I experienced a disk medial failire on my disks that has the rootdbs dbspaces. I had two instances set up on these partitions. I had Informix software mirroring configured so I still have one of my instances on line. Can anyone lend some advice as to the best approach to be used in replacing the bad disk that had my rootdbs. If I was to bring down the instance and reinitialize, will I encounter problems by the fact that my rootdbs primary chunk is down? or will it just transparently get the system related information from the mirrored rootdbs. If you do indeed have your root chunk mirrored, then everything should still
be running. The engine is just complaining that the primary chunk is down
but running off the mirror. If that's true you can use onmonitor or onspaces
to replace the down chunk with another or shutdown, dd the mirror chunk to a
new chunk and link it to the original chunk path/link. Then restart the
engine.
Oh, and I HOPE you do not mean 'initialize' as in oninit -i, that will wipe
you out altogether! Don't do that.
