My research group has Informix's Online Workgropu Server,
version 7,2, on Solaris operating system. It currently
isn't being used for information serving.
I'm still not familiar with many of the DBA tools, and I
was hoping someone here might have a suggestion of where to start
with my problem.
Last Friday.I created a new dbspace with ANSI-compliant logging.
I then tried to run a batch of SQL create table commands through dbaccess.
Dbaccess hung at the "Running..." stage and never returned control.
I terminated the dbaccess process. Then, since there was still
a lock on the new dbspace, I took the DBMS offline and
brought it back online. I tried again. Dbaccess hung again.
I can still query my old tables, but I cannot create any
tables (in the new dbspace) or create a new dbspace or drop
the newest dbspace without having dbaccess hang indefinitely.
I used onstat -u and got this line
a11b530 C--P--- 7 informix 5 a0123b8 0 0 59 0
I was unable to kill this session; I had to bring the DBMS offline to kill it.
I have no idea what's causing dbaccess to hang.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks.
