simple method.
oncheck -pe | grep database_name | awk 'BEGIN {a=0} {a+=$3} END {print a}'
This will tell you how many pages you've currently got allocated for the
database in question. Be sure to figure in your BUFFSIZE (i.e. if 2048
then multiply * 2).
BUT. I strongly suggest that you not do the 5.0 thing with dbspaces where
you add multiple chunks to a dbspace. Instead do the opposite - assign one
dbspace per volume and fragment your tables across dbspaces. This allows
you to actually use the features of 7.x like PDQ and fragment elimination.
I'd drone on, but gotta run.
cheers

Subject: Determining the size of a database
Hello, everyone,
I have recently inherited a system where a number of different
databases were all created on one dbspace. I would like to, at least
initially, allocate one dbspace per database. I would like to make the
dbspace roughly the size of the database, if possible. Does anyone have
any suggestions as to how I could easily determine the actual size of a
database's data and indexes? I would greatly appreciate any input.
I am running Dynamic Server 7.23 in Sun solaris 2.4
