Yeah, don't.
While Solaris X86 was an OK operating system, Informix was very slow
in delivering ports of their products to it. Simply, it wasn't a
volume seller sufficient to be worth the effort.
If you want to run Solaris (and I do) you're better off buying a Sun
Ultra5 box. Not very expensive, works and no problems getting Informix
software.
Of course, Solaris X86 may now be a high priority port for Informix,
but I doubt it. Last I saw, the volume was in Solaris, HPUX, SCO and
NT (not necessarily in that order).
