It is a client-side statement, and only server-side statements can be prepared. You can't prepare CONNECT statements, either, nor a variety of other statements. There's a partial exception to this rule with dynamic SQL in SPL, but it is still reasonably accurate (if you look at dynamic SQL in SPL in the right light). -- Jonathan Leffler <jonathan.leffler@gmail.com> #include <disclaimer.h> Guardian of DBD::Informix - v2011.0612 - http://dbi.perl.org "Blessed are we who can laugh at ourselves, for we shall never cease to be amused." --e0cb4efe2ae0bec33c04c6bb6eb1
