Hello, In IDS 10, is there a way to pin (or at least pre-load) an object in the buffer cache? Thanks, Don

The impact on server performance overall was so bad that it outweighed any benefit for access to a small number of tables. The only way to pre-load the table contents into cache would be to perform a table scan early each day. The only way to insure that the data remains in that cache for that table would be to put the table into a dbspace with a different page size from all other dbspaces so it would have a private cache. If the engine guys ever listen to me an implement multiple buffer pools for the same pagesize, that will be much easier to do. You can read the table into memory in its entirety after bouncing tre system. If you have enough memory, and the table is used regularly, then the table should remain in memory.
