Hello all informix-users.
On a Linux SLES 10 OS i have the following Problem:
I have migrated our IDS 7.31.UD10X1 System to IDS 11.50.UC6W4.
I`ve initialized the IDS 11.50 without problems and it runs and i can access
the db deployed under 7.31.
Now i wan`t to test the reversion to IDS 7.31 and i get the following errors
after stopping ids 11.50 and trying oninit for the 7.31:
this is a part of the output from "oninit -v":
Writing to infos file ... succeeded
Checking config parameters...succeeded
Allocating and attaching to shared memory...succeeded
Creating resident pool 94338 kbytes...succeeded
Creating buffer pool 600002 kbytes...succeeded
Initializing rhead structure...succeeded
Initializing ASF ...succeeded
Initializing Dictionary Cache and Stored Procedure Cache...succeeded
Bringing up ADM VP...succeeded
Creating VP classes...succeeded

Forking 1 'soctcp' listener threads...succeeded
Forking 1 'ipcshm' listener threads...succeeded
Starting tracing...succeeded
Initializing 127 flushers...succeeded
Initializing log/checkpoint information...FAILED
oninit: Fatal error in shared memory initialization
Output from online.log:
16:23:33 Event alarms enabled. ALARMPROG = '/opt/informix/etc/LOG_FULL.SH'
16:23:38 DR: DRAUTO is 0 (Off)
16:23:38 IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 7.31.UD10X1
16:23:38 Logical Log File not found.
16:23:38 IBM Informix Dynamic Server Stopped.
16:23:38 mt_shm_remove: WARNING: may not have removed all/correct segments
I`ve searched the forum and google and i find only the information that i have
to restore the db again, but i think there must be a possibility to get access
to our db with both ids-systems, because it could be that i have to go back to
ids 7.31 when there are problems on the productive system with ids 11.50 after
migration.
The environment variables are set correct.
Every response is welcome and excuse me for my poor school-english.
Greetings
Sascha

Can you post your onconfig, please?

You cannot just shutdown 11.50 and then simply start up 7.31 and expect it
to revert the disk structures. IDS 7.31 doesn't know anything about
reverting 11.50's disk structures back to 7.31 format, 11.50 has to do that
for you. Start the server using 11.50 again (hopefully 7.31 quit before
mucking anything up) and perform the reversion to 7.31 properly by running:
onmode -b 7.31
This will revert the disk structures to 7.31 standards and shutdown the
11.50 instance. Only after doing that can you safely start up the 7.31
engine again.

It works with "onmode -b 7.31".
Thanks.
