Before going any further, make sure that TCP/IP networking really works on your PC client and the server. You could start by trying to "ping" the server from the PC, then start a "telnet" session from the PC to the server. If that works, then networking is ok. There must be an entry for the Informix-NET service in the "services" files on both the server and the client, and they must be identical. By default, I-NET uses the entry sqlexec 1525/tcp (^^^^^^ ^^^^^ ^^) (Servicename Port Protocol) but you can actually use any service name and port number you'd like, as long as they are unique in your system. If you use another name instead of "sqlexec", you must start your "sqlexec"-Daemon on your server with that name as a parameter (consult the manual on how to do that). I have no idea about where SUN PCNFSpro expects the "services" file on the PC. Make sure it is in the right location (WINDOWS/SYSTEM doesn't sound right to me) and that it is the ONLY file named "services" on your PC. Another problem might be that if the line with the "sqlexec" service is the last line in your "services" file, it MUST end with a "RETURN", otherwise the system cannot read that line.
