SDS Shutdown

Hi, We are running Informix 11.70.FC7. I am doing some testing with SDS. I noticed that if I shutdown the primary, the SDS stays up. Though when I bring up the Primary again, it automatically shuts down the SDS. This happens even if I just quickly bounce the primary. Why does the SDS need to shutdown? Is this expected behavior and is there any way around this to keep the SDS up and running? Thank you, --Dave --001a11c3570453daa904fd225add
Because the buffer pool between the primary and the secondary is no lon= ger consistent. The reason that the secondary stays up when the primary is down is with= the hope that the SDS node will be promoted to primary. But since that did= n't happen, then the secondary gives up and shuts down. = From: "Informix DBA" <in4mixdba@gmail.com> = = To: ids@iiug.org, = = Date: 07/01/2014 09:12 AM = = Subject: SDS Shutdown [33334] = = Sent by: ids-bounces@iiug.org = = Hi, We are running Informix 11.70.FC7. Thank you Madison,
We are looking for a good HA solution to have one node always up and our
current nightly process bounces the Primary instance every night. If
reports are running on the SDS node, they will get disconnected when the
Primary comes back up. We liked the idea of SDS since all nodes are
running against the same physical data storage. Is there another Informix
HA solution that can accomplish this?
Btw does the name used when setting the primary for an SDS (onmode -d set
SDS primary) need to be DBSERVERNAME or is it the same if I used one of
the DBSERVERALIASES (I know both work since I tested it) ? I was thinking
to use a new DBSERVERALIASES that current application users don't connect
to.
