Being a software vendor we try to stay legal in all aspects of our work for customers. Therefore we've ordered the required upgrade for the customer. When we actually change machines in February (bought the Informix now to avoid the 1995 price increase) I'll test the Class C stuff in-between the restore from backups and the upgrade to D class. I'll post the results at that time. My fear now is that Informix pricing policies are going to force us into bigger customers since our current target customer isn't going to be able to justify Class D pricing just to have the latest Intel CPU for their SCO Unix systems. BTW, since we are a FourGen VAR and FourGen pricing is based on Informix price categories, the customer takes a double hit - merely to change from 486 to 586 on a system that won't have any more users (18) after the change.
