Re: Down grade from 9.21.UC2 to 7.30.UC6

Hi Chavan,
When you are downgrading like this ..u have to do the following:
a) While 9.21 is up, run onmode -b 7.3
b) After it indicates it has finished the reversion, point the binaries to
the 7.3 version
c) Start up the instance and it'll build the sysmaster database for you.
Without the onmode -b it cannot do the reversion ...

Hello all,
For some reasons i had to down grade my Informix Instance which is running
on HP-UX 10.20 and 9.21.UC2 to 7.30.UC6. When i issue the command "onstat
-". The server is not coming up and in fast recovery mode. " Informix
Dynamic Server Version 7.30.UC6 -- Fast Recovery -- Up 00:00:20 -- 283192
Kbytes". Then i looked into the online log. It was showing some AssertFail.
Question 1. Can we initialize a server like this, for these versions ?
Question 2. Why the DBSPACETEMP is invalid ( in the online log message ) ?
Question 3. Did any one does like this and successful ?
I have initialized the server like this.
1. Installed 7.30.UC6 in different directory.
2. Shutdown the instance using old ( 9.21 INFORMIXDIR) environment.
3. With the new environment ( 7.30 INFORMIXDIR ) try to initialize the
server with the command "oninit"
4. Back again with the old 9.21 environment i could initialize the server.
Here is the cut from online log.
