I think they are well aware how much they need to hang on to the : Wyse 60 market. If I understand correctly, NewEra is not just another visual language, but actually has a general-purpose OOP language at its core. To this they added a database connectivity class library (to connect to Informix databases) and a GUI class library (forms, buttons, etc) for a user interface. This is roughly how the product was to be initially delivered. Additionally the specifications for a class library would be released to 3rd party developers. This would mean someone can extend NewEra to support character-based terminals, even if Informix doesn't. However, I haven't used the product yet, and all the information I have is feedback from others--I haven't seen anything written. It could also be preliminary information, subject to change before the product became available. I'm really waiting to learn NewEra for myself and gain some perspective on its potential. One thing is clear: to support Wyse 60's, etc. we need a Unix port of NewEra. Although Informix promised NewEra would be released for Unix/Motif, I don't know if this is yet available. -Jeff
