There was a memory leak problem in PREPARE/FREE in early 5.0x versions of ESQL. Upgrade your ESQL version to 5.06 (I think) or later. I think that the work around was to close and free the cursor before freeing the prepared statement. In other words remove the free from the setup function and move it to where the cursor is being closed and free the cursor then free the statement. When you receive the upgrade this code rearrangement can stay in place it is harmless to delay the freeing of the statement. Also you REALLY should upgrade to an ESQL 7.xx version appropriate to your engine. ESQL 5.0x compiled code uses the SQL Remote Module to connect to a 7.xx engine and this will not execute as fast as native ESQL 7.xx compiled code. Also let me suggest that you upgrade to a 7.2x release of Informix Online, 7.10 was VERY buggy and SLOWWWW compared to versions after 7.13. Also 7.14 and 7.21 fixed the long standing Archive bug (search dejanews for details). Art S. Kagel
