Hi Rainer, Your problem causes by choosing the wrong device driver. Try to used an BSD-style device driver. For Solaris, just append 'b' to the end of tape device, e.g. /dev/rmt/0b. Regards, Khemchart Rungchavalnont I am in trouble trying to execute the CATALOG command using an Informix Online V7.23UC1 Server running on a Sun Sparc Server with Solaris 2.5. What I actually wnat to do is to find out if a tape volume really contains the safesets that should be on it. It seems onarchive is able to write to the tape but unable to read from it. The tape-drive itself is allright, no problems reading/writing with eg dd. What I did: 1. Configure onarchive according to the documentation 2. Create one volume set (vsall) and one tape-volume (0001, tape is an Exabyte 14Gbyte compressed) 3. Issue 2 requests to make a level 0 archive and a logical log backup. The requests terminate successfull according to the logfile. At this point when I run a LIST/VOLUME Command : Volume set name: vsall Volume No : 0001 Volume label : 0001 Nb. save set : 2 Nb. phys save set : 2 Protection : DRW Max space : 0 Used space : 98474 Full : NO Virtual : Parameters : Comment : Now I want to verify what safesets (backups) are really on my tape volume. So I issue a CATALOG request for this volume and volume set that terminates with an error: ||================================= CATALOG ==================================|| | Volume Set Name [vsall ] | Volume Number [0001] | Site ID [ ] | |====================================================================| | |===| ARC-E-01341, Error while reading save-set HDR1. ARC-E-01302, Save-set read failed. |===| After issuing the CATALOG command you can see, that the tape is really accessed but onarchive is unable to find the safeset header. Any idea what might go wrong?
