Inconsistencies in a Chunk Freelist page

If the oncheck -ce didn't repair the damage, the first option is to restore from the most recent archive taken before the error showed up and roll forward all logical logs from that point to the present. If that doesn't fix it - probably because the problem existed for a while before the IDS discovered it so your archives are all bad as well - I would export all of my databases, initialize and rebuild the instance from scratch and reimport all of the data. Leonardi, I have seen similar errors in earlier versions of Informix. Where an archive finds a chuck free list page problem. When I have seen this type error, it was always some external issue with disk management. Things like DBA's adding a raw device that is being used by one instance onto another instance. or Unix admins using a raw device that was in use by the database as part of a mounted file system. or SAN issues with micro code that failed to correctly handle raw disk writes. I assume the archive prior to the one that detected the problem ran error free? If so, you may want to check that the disk on the damaged system did not get used by another application. Of course if you are using cooked space you can ignore this post. George.
