Problem: Informix 5.0 SE on Linux with WIN Clients

Hi there! I managed to run Informix 5.0 SE on Linux DLD 5.0 with IBCS2 (Version 12.Februar 1997). The access with a Win 3.11 Client via Informix-Net 5.01 functions very good. By the way, I'm using Delphi as frontend. For those who want to know: 1. You need a 4.xx version of Informix-Net on the Server. 2. You need a /tcb/files/auth/* path on the linux server 3. Start the sqlexecd with the option <logfile> for easier problem report 4. If you have to use different clients (4.xx and 5.xx) use different directories for informix and start the sqlexecd with the rc.ibcs2 script in /etc/rc.d by setting the enviroment (INFORMIXDIR etc.) for the 4.xx Informix directory. 5. Make shure that you have the right entries in /etc/services and in c:\\informix\\etc\\services (sqlexec 1525/tcp) 6. Make shure the the sqlhosts file contains the entry writen in Informix description. But the access with a CLI 2.5 (32 Bit) from a Win 95 Client causes problems: The first thing to say is that it functions well with a SCO-Unix Server but not with Linux. I first tried the 4.xx sqlexecd on the server with no useable result. The command line for the sqlexecd start is not clear yet. Informix Support says, that sqlexecd sqlexec -l <logfile> instead of sqlexecd -l <logfile> is required. Also possible is the necessaty of the -d <database>. I tried all, but I haven't been successful. With the 5.xx sqlexecd I receive the error 25528 The sqlexec daemon cannot accept a connection: System error : Invalid argument The error that follows says 25506 The sqlexecd daemon cannot accept a connection on the socket: Invalid argument. I had the idea to make another daemon wich is able to call the sqlexecd but it doesn't work because this would mean that the fork for the sqlexecd would be lost. I checked the genral things already (sqlhosts, services, access rights, sqlexecd loaded, etc). So, can you hear me,, you poor lonesome cowboy who diggs for linux gold in the dark Informix forrest. Please HEEEEELP! Olaf
