The IDS/UDO (Universal Server) manuals are misleading (Like our President, they are legally correct but do not volunteer information). You CAN alter a table in an inheritence structure (which must be a typed table). I've successfully altered typed tables to add unique, primary, and foreign key constraints. You cannot alter the structure (add columns, modufy data types) of a typed table however.
