charachters like qqq xxxx kkk jj are displayed

Sir, The 4GL programs are migrated from informix 4GL ver 7.32(IDS v 11.1) to 7.50(IDS v 11.5) on linux. After which the the lines and boxes of the applications display the charachters like qqq xxxx kkk jjj. Is this due to the termcap/terminfo file ? Please help me to solve this problem. Thanks.

Yes. Probably your TERMCAP file under v7.32 was modified to provide the line drawing characters for your typical terminal types, but the 7.50 install has a pristine one that doesn't include those changes. First cut try setting TERMCAP to the path of the original termcap file in the etc subdirectory under where the 7.32 version was installed. If that works, just copy it to the 7.50 install directory. You could also try setting the INFORMIXTERM environment variable to "terminfo" to see if the terminfo settings will work for you. The default is to use termcap instead. Art Art S.
