If that's the order Informix says to install it in, then Informix Tech Support will be glad to repeat it (authoritatively and definitively)...They generally won't even listen to you until you tell them it was installed in the proper order (and there are ways to verify this). I have seen a few instances on older versions where you could 'for the most part' run allright even after violating the prescribed installation ordering, but eventually you will have problems. The "rub" you mention brings to mind an interesting point. There are numerous valid reasons why you might not have the original installation media. Since software companies are so intent on insisting that they are selling "licenses" and not the "software" itself, there should be (I'm not saying there is, just that there should be) a way to get replacement copies of such media from Informix or your vendor. -- - Danny Wright danwright@bigfoot.com #include <stddisclaimers.h> Idiot, n.: A member of a large and powerful tribe whose influence in human affairs has always been dominant and controlling. - Ambrose Bierce, "The Devil's Dictionary"
