If you absolutely do not care about recovery of up-to-second-of-crash data, I'd say go for it. Be careful, though that the full and partial archives really have all the data you need to come back whole as of the date of last level-0 or date of last level-1. I've seen systems that keep other items, such as logs and temp files in non-database files that need to be kept in synch with the database. In a lot of cases, though (yours sounds like one), the effort of physically managing the logfile tapes may outweigh the need to reprocess a day's data (if you can easily reprocess a day's work) on the outside chance that a crash may happen.. : TIA, : Eric Gavin -- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe Lumbley(jlumbley@netcom.com) author of: "INFORMIX DBA Survival Guide" Slaving away on "INFORMIX DEBUGGERS Survival Guide", available early 1998 from Prentice Hall/Informix Press.
