Sorry, next compatibility question: We have web applications on Linux servers which uses PHP. They read from IDS 9.40.FC9W2 on Solaris. Versioninfo: PHP 4.4.8 (cli) (built: May 21 2008 20:00:17) Copyright (c) 1997-2008 The PHP Group Zend Engine v1.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2004 Zend Technologies PHP is compiled and linked with Informix Libs: IBM/Informix-Client SDK Version 2.90.FC4R1 Copyright (C) 1991-2006 IBM IBM/Informix EMBEDDED SQL for C Version 2.90.FC4R1 Copyright (C) 1991-2006 IBM Are there any compatibility issues with IDS 11.50.FCx? TIA, Reinhard.
Compatible yes, but CSDK v 2.90 will not support any features added to IDS after the early releases of 9.40. So, no support for LVARCHAR columns that are not 2048 bytes in length, no support for INT8/SERIAL8 or BIGINT/BIGSERIAL column types, etc. Art On Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 10:47 AM, Habichtsberg, Reinhard < RHabichtsberg@arz-emmendingen.de> wrote: > Sorry, next compatibility question: > > We have web applications on Linux servers which uses PHP. Thanks again, Art. Yes, we will upgrade to PHP 5 and maybe CSDK 3.50 soon. Note also the CSDK v3.50 is fully backward compatible with IDS 9.40. I have always found that migration is easiest if you migrate your apps to newer development environments first then migrate the database server once the new apps are completely tested.
