Neither Informix nor MS SQL Server will perform either 2-phase commit or replication with a foreign server. You will have to implement 2-phase commit and rollback protocols yourself at the application level. Since neither server has a API to get partial commit confirmation you will have to save undo information and be prepared to reverse inserts, deletes, and updates manually if the commit fails on the secondary server.
