Roger, If I find/write such a utility I will let all on the ilist know about it. I believe that the explain output is generated after the open, but I am going to check to see if anything gets generated after the declare. I am trying to avoid letting the open complete, since this will almost certainly result in the engine retrieving data/index pages. Mark MarkDenham@aol.com (home) Denham.M@amstr.com (work)
