Oledb and BLOBs

Hi all, I'm currently working on a multi tier application which has to be able to connect both MS-SQLServer and Informix db's (and more different dbms's in future). I'm using ADO (through Delphi, not VB!) and OLEDB and would like to stay clear of ODBC if possible. The OLEDB driver from the Informix Client SDK seems to work ok, except when trying to insert a record including a byte field. I'm building my sqlstring like this: insert into table table1 values (id, ?) and I pass a parameter in the ADO Command.Execute.This works fine for the SQLOLEDB driver, but not for IFXOLEDBC.
