HELP PLEASE: HDR and Recovery scenario

IDS 2000 version 9.2 UC5 running on SunOS 5.8 We have HDR over a WAN. The primary machines do not have backup tapes connected to them. The secondary machines have been connected to a disk array so that we can do level 0 archives on them. I cannot dump the databases from the primary over the WAN since it kills the bandwidth. This is the reason I am trying to do an ontape to disk on the secondary. I have searched the entire Informix documentation and cannot find a single reference pointing to the fact that you cannot use ontape on the secondary machine. Yet I see it being posted on this news group that you cannot use ontape on the secondary. Can some one please clear this for me once and for all??? It is really dumb that you cannot backup a secondary instance (Sybase and Sql Server allow you to). The data is all there. Why can I not back it up? Anyway, can some one suggest any alternate strategies for this? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Jack
