I have a system where we are doing onbars ... and keeping an insane amount of backup data ... Since sysutils gets created in the root dbsspace in the default script ... sysutils.sql located in $INFORMIXDIR/etc..... my root is becoming quite large ... The question is ... any issues with creating this database in a different dbspace ... Thanks for any and all help ... Peter Peter Logan Senior Database Administrator Phone: 616/878-8309
Not at all, it is recomended procedure. There is an SQL API to do that... just forget the document but I think is on developer works... Shouldn't be a problem. The DDL to create the database is in $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sysutils.sql, if that matters. Just export/drop/import to put it where you want it. If you don't need to keep the content, its even simpler.
