I have an instance that was somewhat hosed up while testing backup/restore through ontape. It is currently offline. When I try to bring it back to quiesent mode through onmonitor it cancels out while recovering saying 'oninit: Fatal error in shared memory initialization' and it just hangs. I do a ctrl-c and it says 'INFORMIX-OnLine is still in INIT or RECOVERY mode. Recovery process is still in progress.' It creates the files 'af.1*' and 'shmem.1*' in /tmp which become so large that /tmp runs out of room. I've tried setting PSORT_DBTEMP to a directory with more space but it still places the files in /tmp. Any ideas?
