I've noticed this problem when running the dbaccess client and
attempting to
connect to an INFORMIXSERVER (as listed in sqlhosts). (v7.24)
Apparently, one's INFORMIXSERVER environment variable must point to an
entry in
sqlhosts. Whether that entry actually points to a running instance or
not does
not matter.
In other words, assuming you have 3 entries in sqlhosts, irrespective of
the one
you are trying to connect to (in dbaccess), your environment variable
must point
to any one of those 3.
