Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Hello,
we're updating our hardware to some new alpha cluster. With the update
there will be also a change of the OS version and the 4gl developement
tools being used.
In use:
Digital Unix V4.0 1229
4GL 7.20.UE3
Informix 7.31.FD3
New environment:
Digital Unix V5.1B (SP2)
4GL 7.32.FC2
Informix 9.40.FC3
there are some 4GL sources which doesn't compile in the new
environment when using the -a flag (array bound checking). The last
pass (i4glc3) which converts the "ec" file to "c" code crashes which
core dump. The sources compile fine without the -a flag.
We have Case 395078 open at IBM/Informix with this problem but they
have problems to reproduce our testcase (it's because they haven't
exactly the same environment). When trying to compile our source they
seem to got into some kind of memory leak. The OS is complaining about
"cannot optain swap space". But this is probably the same reason why
our compile is crashing.
Greetings, Joerg
