dbexport with smallfloat

Database definition looks like: create table "informix".r_roman_nums ( roman_numeral char(10) not null , number_equivalent smallfloat not null , description char(40) not null ,... A row has the value of numeric zero (0) for number_equivalent. Dbexport produces the following: 0|-1e|Zero| When attempting dbimport, the following error occurs: *** put loadcur 1223 - Value will not fit in a FLOAT. Am I doing something wrong or do I have a (gasp!) bug?
