Dear Group IDS, I used HDR solution from Informix which means that I have primary und seconday servers concept. my quesion: I want to export the databases that i have to sicher it later on tape drive. Can i do the export from secondary? to make sure that the primary 24 hours online. if i cannot do that, then what shall do to make the export of data and the database still online which is mean without downtime. You can use the Informix ontape utility on the primary server to archive it
while the server is fully online. No downtime needed. You should also be
archiving the logical logs using ontape so you can restore the instance to
the point of failure as closely as possible on the case of a catastrophic
failure.
Look at the Backup and Restore manual for details.

Yes, you can do that.
You can do dbexport on HDR secondary but sometimes export taken on that
way (when HDR is still active) may have different number of rows for
some tables in database.sql file, and real .unl file which is in
database.exp folder ... To resolve this, you must edit database.sql in
.exp folder and make this number identically, or before a couple of
days, I start using this strategy on HDR secondary server for dbexport:
1. Temporary stop HDR:
onmode -wf STOP_APPLY=1
onmode -wf USELASTCOMMITTED=ALL
2. Do dbexport:
dbexport my_database
3. Continue HDR:
onmode -wf STOP_APPLY=0
onmode -wf USELASTCOMMITTED=NONE
I don't quite sure if STOP_APPLY really temporary stop HDR - because I
see logical log on secondary growing even after this command, but my
dbexport is OK (accidentally or not).
