(Actually, in one environment, I did have my druthers and I did this.) Your best bet is to copy onconfig.std to a new file called onconfig.patrick and set your ONCONFIG environment variable to this. If you do this, then when you go into onmonitor and configure your system, you only risk messing up your copy. BTW, the nature of the question makes me suspect you are an Informix admin newbie. If this is the case, please take the OnLine DSA system admin class. (4 or 5 days) This pays for itself the first time you configure a system without screw-ups.
