In article <nsi.123.0012B12F@teleport.com>, nsi@teleport.com says... >Is 4GL in a non-Informix environment the same as 4GL in an Informix >environment ? In other words, I have a 4GL expert (non-INformix environment) >who is applying for a 4GL Informix position. Will there be much of a learning >curve ? > >Also, are there any trade publications or associations where I might seek more >Informix 4GL experts ? I did not realize much from misc.jobs... > >Harry Ratchford We hire Informix 4GL programmers from time to time. Our expierence has been that If the new hire is very skilled in SQL, the 4GL portion sould be trivial to learn. This is assuming that the individual has a good background in structured programming. (Pascal, c, c++, other 4GL, etc) We have had little luck posting in the newsgroups for new hires. Although we have had some responses. A well placed Sunday newspaper add is still the way to go. Just my 2cents.
