The product is Storage Edition with its Quick I/O database accelerator. The base file system must be VxFS, however, the offers ease of management when using cooked chunks. The quick I/O database accelator achieves the significant performance improvement by presenting a regular file to Informix as a raw character device. This bypasses traditional UNIX file system overhead of single writer locks and double buffering - lowering CPU overhead. Worth a look.
