Problem conecting to informix

I'm triying to connect to a informix server from a win95 machine, and I set the hostname, username, password, also verify the port in the "services" file, but when I try to use the I-Login app to test the connection, this program crashes with out any error message. I was thinking that informix use some thing like the listener of oracle is this correct?
