The FAQ is back..version 1.25 is out! http://www.smooth1.co.uk/ifaq/informix.htm More update to follow. David.
Hi David, There are a few gems in there that are still relevant but the FAQ looks to be 15+ years out of date now and is beyond simple updating. Some examples: 4.1.20 Will Informix explode in the year 2000? :-D 5.11 Is there *really* no "Upper" function!? I can't actually remember when there wasn't and I started with Informix in 1999. 8.49 How do I set tables memory resident? I didn't know about this feature but when I checked the docs just now it last worked in version 9.40. 8.57 What are the main Informix bugs? These are ancient! I also question whether the ones listed were ever the "main" bugs at any point in time since I knew of some worse ones :) I spotted some other suspect stuff, scripts where multiple page sizes are not taken into account and so on, which would require more effort for me to check. I don't wish to be negative but everything in there needs a review at least. Wouldn't it be better for a FAQ to be in the form of a Wiki if it's to be a community based effort and maybe started again from scratch? Ben.
