Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
rhys asked how to move data to a new, larger Solaris disk. Keith Simmons advised against RAID 5, recommending at least mirroring or striped mirrors so rootdbs, physical log, logical logs and temp can sit on separate spindles. Paul Watson asked which RAID card was used. Art Kagel advised controller-level RAID 1 striped with Solaris DiskSuite into RAID 10. Advice given, no confirmed outcome.

You need to get into the raid card and reconfigure to mirroring at
least or even striped mirrors. You will get advantages of more
spindles so that you can separate rootdbs from physdbs from logdbs(s).
Also placing temp dbs's on separate spindles and possibly even
separating indexes from data.
That's before you even look at the advantage of seeing disk write fails
immediately rather than getting them sheilded by the raid5 and only
realising when performance plummets (or the same area on two disks
crunch and takes the lot out !!)

NO RAID 5!

That mean config the Raid 1+0(100GB). And mirror the data from 9G to
that 100GB HD?
Use the Solaris volume manager to mirror or another method?
Please advice.
Thank you

Mirroring (RAID1) at the controller level then use Solaris Disksuite or some
other volume manager to stripe the mirrored pairs into a RAID10 array.
