Porting Illustra to Universal Server
Posted in 1997
Our company is in the midst of developing a large Illustra application on a Sun Solaris platform, making use of the 2D/3D spatial datablades and the web datablade. We have developed some of our own abstract data types and written an extensive set of C programs that call milib routines, and we've written a considerable number of C server functions. We plan to port some or all of our work to the Universal Server within the next few months. I've had some trouble, however, finding information on porting from Illustra to Universal Server. What I'm looking for in particular are the following: 1. List of manual names for Informix Universal Server 2. any tech notes on Universal Server SQL syntax and how it differs from Illustra SQL syntax (e.g., length and format of identifiers) 3. tech notes on porting C and SQL server functions from Illustra to Informix 4. tech notes on exporting tables/indexes from Illustra and importing them to Informix. Have any of you tackled the porting issue yet? Any tips, experiences, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
