PREPAREd statement
Posted in 1996
First, sorry about my very poor english. I have the following problem: I need to EXECUTE a PREPAREd statement from a string like "UPDATE mytable SET (first, second, third, fourth) = (myrec.first, myrec.second, myrec.third, myrec.fourth) WHERE ever " Beeing 'myrec' a program record holding data to update into 'mytable' The error is: "table myrec not found in database" (or something similar). But myrec is not a table, since it's a global program record!! I tried to use the THRU notation for the record variables, but Informix tells "A sintax error was ocurred" when attempting to execute the statement. Then I tested the sintaxis inside ISQL and realize that the reserved word "THRU" is the problem even when the reference manual allows it. I hope you can decrypt my Tarzan language. I wait for response. Thanks a lot. --- Ramiro Rela rrela@milagro.dc.uba.ar Departamento de ComputaciOn de la Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales, Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina. PS: I accept suggestions about improving my english expressions.
