You didn't mention any important information like hardware, OS, version of Informix, etc. How are we supposed to help? Considering I have nothing to go on except "libsocket.a", here's my best guess: The "libsocket.a" comes with the SCO TCP/IP development system. Install that (assuming your running SCO Unix) and you'll find "/usr/lib/libsocket.a". If I'm not even close, I apoligise.
