This works fine in 7.10.UC1 (on SCO 3.2.4.2)
It gives syntax error in 7.12.UC1 (on SCO 5.0.0d)
The syntax:
select * from appl_log as at where at.evnt_ts = today
works in both cases. I have a hunch this is more according to standard
SQL these days.
Your syntax ought to have worked though, so it would be fine if
someone intimate with the internals should explain this.
Can we expect more such problems?
Luckily we never use this syntax except where we must due to a self
join. The SQL will be substantially clearer with full tablenames all
the way.
However when there is one such problem, may be it pops up in other
areas as well?
What say ya all?
