RE: Data Management Magazine....

The simple fact is that IBM apparently doesn't feel the need to promote Informix period. Meaning that they've made a conscious decision that they could care less about IDS and make as much money as they can until they need to sunset it. The lack of marketing and sales says it all. Unfortunately, with their DB2 vs the world attitude, they'll lose out to Oracle everytime. And why should IBM care? I mean, heck, ever consider the revenue IBM Global services gets from supporting Oracle? Putting things in to perspective, Senior Heritage Informixers are just biding their time until retirement. To: informix-list@iiug.org Hi, I'm reading the last Data Management Magazine , more exactly the article "Changes to the Cursor Stability" . What isn't surprise me , it's talk about only DB2 and nothing about Informix. Why they don't mix together in the same article information of the both databases? Just say, in db2 CS work this way... in Informix work this way too (or not)... The magazine editor is DB2 DBA? The authors of the articles (Informix , DB2) are enemies? Can't talk with other? will be embarrassed work together? Or just don't have Informix authors with disposition or time to write?? I read publication about "biggest" and "fastest" database (db2 of course) . Where is the publication about Informix big cases? I refuse to believe there's no case to publish... Already have a publication "What is DB2 PureScale" , please remember me , they already publishing "What is IDS MACH11" ??? Or "The lasts improvements of IDS MACH11" ? Some publication about the power of Enterprise Replication and the lasts improvements? I just don't remember! When I start to read the article "Call Me" about the telecoms , I think "finally something about Informix" and again they talk about compression resource of DB2!!!!!!!! To worse , the article include some citations of NetworkIP (So far I know , work with Informix!) Hum, in the next issue , they will remember talk about the Panther (IDS 12)??? Hard to believed. This magazine still db2 magazine... Sometimes I take a look in the Informix Magazine (www.informixmag.com) with hope to found some publication similar of DB...DM Magazine , but they still like a blog, not a magazine... Hey, I have a idea, why each publication in the DM Magazine what they missing about Informix in some article, someone or a group of IDS experts and IBMes write a article similar of the DM Magazine , talking about the Informix point of view??? Is this possible? or some "internal law/rule" of IBM don't permits this?
