Try breaking the query : into smaller pieces and doing the inserts that way. I ran across something : similar with Powerbuilder a couple of years ago, when I tried to create a : dbase file with a large select. It ground to a halt after several hours : when I tried to do the whole thing in one select, but when I broke it into : 4 queries, it took less than an hour total. : --- : ~ SPEED 1.40 [NR] ~ Sounds like what is happening is that there's a meory leak somewhere and as a result windows begins paging to disk until it finally runs out (don't ya just love windows!). If that is the case would breaking it up help without restarting windows between the pieces? Curious to hear what you find out. Regards, Larry Jones
