[ontopofIT] Oracle iFS Microsoft Killer?

Hello all, We would like to invite the comp.databases.informix community to share in the discussion of the following IT story: This Infoworld article describes Oracle's iFS (Internet File System) strategy. This is the first I've heard of it. Apparently, the idea is an end run around NOSs like Novell, NT, and Unix by including a file-system with their Oracle 8i database. Any thoughts? Come join the discussion at ontopofIT! This story has just been posted at: http://www.ontopofit.com/articles/980910/0959248.shtml. Notes: The full text of the article includes the links, which I have stripped here because many newsreaders don't grok html. Some have also told me that it would be good to mention that ontopofIT carries no ads. Yours truly, Paul, news@ontopofit.com
