Message 3004 in Perform is "Output record number %d", which, needless to say, is not an error message (the message files are also used for strings needed by the various products). As of 4.10 (the latest release of isql) that message was still in the perf.iem file in $INFORMIXDIR/msg. Check to make sure that that file is present.
