Help!! dbload utility for Windows NT not working...
Posted in 1999
Topics: Server Administration
Hi,
I am a new informix user. I am trying to load a text file
named test.unl which has the following format
2000|15.00
2001|5.00
2002|15.00
and so on...
my command file (filename: comm) has the following entries:
FILE test.unl DELIMITER '|' 2;
Insert into pay_pct (empid,modified_date,pct_deduction)
values (f01,TODAY,f02);
I get the following output when I run the dbload command
D:\\data\\db_scripts>dbload -d treasury_dev -c comm -l kk.txt -s
DBLOAD Load Utility INFORMIX-SQL Version 7.12.TC3
Copyright (C) Informix Software, Inc., 1984-1996
D:\\data\\db_scripts>
And when I go to DBAccess there are no rows loaded into the table Pay_Pct.
Also there is no file kk.txt with any kind of an error message. I just
can't get this utility to work. Any suggestions would be helpful.
thank you,
srikant

Informix's delimited file utilities expect that even the last field will end in a delimiter so the records should be: 2000|15.0| 2001|5.0| .... Art S. Kagel

Art has already pointed out the missing delimiter at the end of each
data line.

The -s option to dbload performs a syntax check on the command
file. If the command file is structured correctly, dbload prints
version and copyright information and exits, as it has done above.
Remove the -s from the command to perform the load.
Hope this helps,
Richard.

No, that was changed somewhere along the way. Older versions of the
utilities expect a delimiter at the end; newer ones (don't know how new)
don't require it. At least, LOAD doesn't on my version 7.22; I can't be
bothered to test dbload, since I have no manuals and never can remember
the command file format.
